How to go from an app idea to a live site with Claude Code

Last updated 5 November 2026

The short answer: tell Claude Code the idea and let it work in stages, with a place where you approve each one. SnagFrog Launchpad is that place. Claude brainstorms, designs, builds and deploys; you approve the design on a review page and press one button to put the site live, on your own Cloudflare account.

What does an AI-built app need to be worth launching?

  • A clear brief: who it is for, what exists already, and what makes this one different.
  • A design you approved before any code is written, so the build matches what you pictured.
  • A preview before production, and a way back to the last good build.
  • A real backend with backups, for apps that store anything.
  • A landing page that search engines and AI assistants can read, and a way for users to report bugs.

Step 1: Connect Claude Code to SnagFrog

Contact us for a workspace. In Settings → Claude & API, create a token and run the claude mcp add command it shows once in a terminal. The Claude Code guide has the details.

Step 2: Add the Launchpad skill

The snag-launchpad skill is what Claude follows from idea to launch, with its scripts and the web template it builds from:

mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && curl -fsSL https://snagfrog.com/skills/snag-launchpad.zip -o /tmp/snag-launchpad-skill.zip \
  && unzip -oq /tmp/snag-launchpad-skill.zip -d ~/.claude/skills && rm /tmp/snag-launchpad-skill.zip

Restart Claude Code after you run it. It also works in the Code tab of the Claude desktop app.

Step 3: Connect your hosting

A workspace owner connects Cloudflare once, in Settings → Connections: an API token with Workers Scripts → Edit and Zone → Read, and the account ID. SnagFrog stores the token encrypted, and every project deploys to that account.

Step 4: Tell Claude the idea

In Claude Code, say "I have an idea for an app". Claude asks questions until the idea is clear, then creates the project in SnagFrog as a new app. Follow it on the app's Progress page. It goes through ten stages:

  1. Idea and brainstorm
  2. Research and validation
  3. Spec and requirements (the brief, which you can edit)
  4. Design: every new screen, the landing page and the logo
  5. Architecture and backend
  6. Build
  7. Testing and QA
  8. Deploy
  9. Launch and marketing
  10. After launch

Each stage shows whether it is done, in progress or waiting for you. When it is Claude's move, Progress gives you the line to paste into Claude Code.

Step 5: Review the design

Open the project's Design page and press Start review. Go through the logo, the landing page and each screen at desktop, tablet and phone widths. Approve a file, or mark it Needs changes and pin a comment on the exact spot. When Claude sends two or three directions, pick one. Send review hands your notes back; once every file is approved, Claude starts building.

Step 6: Deploy a preview, then go live

Claude uploads each build to the Deploys page. Press Deploy preview, try the site at its own link, then press Promote to live. The live site does not change until you promote. Every earlier build stays in the table, and Restore puts one back.

Once it is live, Site checks tests what search engines and AI answers need: HTTPS, title, meta description, one H1, canonical link, Open Graph image, JSON-LD, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, llms.txt, a favicon, a report link and the SnagFrog widget. Failing checks are listed first, for Claude to fix.

Step 7: Launch it

The Launch and marketing stage is a checklist, each task with a prompt for Claude or a page to open: submit to launch directories, plan an X campaign, add a newsletter signup, run an SEO audit and connect analytics.

What it costs to run

The Backend page shows whether the PocketBase server is up, when the last daily backup ran, and an estimate of the monthly cost. When a project has run its course, a workspace owner can shut it down: the site comes down, the app and its reports stay, and Reopen brings it back.

Questions

Can Claude Code build and launch a whole app?

Yes, step by step, with you approving the important ones. With SnagFrog Launchpad, Claude brainstorms the idea with you, researches it, writes the brief, designs every new screen, the landing page and the logo, builds the app from the approved design, and deploys it. You approve the design and press Promote to live.

Where is the app hosted?

In your own accounts. Sites deploy to Cloudflare as Workers in your account, and web apps get a PocketBase backend on Fly.io under your own Fly account. SnagFrog never holds your site; it deploys to the account you connected.

Does it work for games and Mac apps?

Yes. Web apps, SaaS and web games get a site and a backend. Games, Mac apps and other projects are built on your Mac without a backend, and their landing page is deployed once Claude uploads a build of it.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Add the domain to the same Cloudflare account, then add it on the project's Deploys page. Cloudflare sets up DNS and HTTPS, usually within a few minutes, and www is added too.

What happens after launch?

The project is an ordinary SnagFrog app: it has a report page, a widget, error capture, releases and the growth tools. The launch checklist lists the next steps: launch directories, an X campaign, a newsletter, an SEO audit and analytics.
