The short answer: the threads worth answering are the ones Google already shows for your searches, plus the posts that name your app or its competitors. Find both, reply where you can genuinely help, and do it from your own account. SnagFrog finds them, rates them and drafts a first reply; you decide what to post.
Which conversations are worth your time?
- Threads that rank: a Reddit thread on Google's first page keeps getting readers for years.
- People asking for a recommendation in your category.
- Mentions of competitors, where your app is a fair alternative.
- Mentions of your app, where a reply from the maker helps.
Step 1: Give SnagFrog your searches
Contact us for a workspace. Add the app's website and competitors in its settings, and save the keywords people search for. Conversations show in the app's Growth section when keyword research is on for your workspace.
Step 2: Scan Reddit
Open Conversations → Reddit and press Scan now. You get the Reddit threads that Google lists for your searches. Open the ones where you can help.
Step 3: Watch mentions
Open Conversations → Mentions and press Check now, or switch on watching in Settings to get an email when something good turns up. Claude can sort mentions by how well they fit your app, and Draft reply gives you a starting point.
Step 4: Reply yourself
Read the whole thread, rewrite the draft in your own words, say you made the app, and post from your own account. On launch week, the Release Day page lists the threads and mentions worth a reply for that release.
Questions
How do I find Reddit threads where people ask for an app like mine?
Search Google for your keywords and look at the Reddit threads it shows: those are the threads people actually land on. SnagFrog runs those searches for your saved keywords and lists the threads, so you can reply where you can help.
Which sites does mention tracking cover?
Hacker News, Lobsters, Bluesky, Mastodon and Product Hunt, searched for your app's name, website, competitors and saved keywords.
Does SnagFrog post replies for me?
No. Claude can rate how well each mention fits your app and draft a reply as a starting point, but nothing is posted, voted or messaged for you. Read the whole post, then reply from your own account.
How do I reply on Reddit without being spammy?
Answer the question first, say plainly that you made the app, and only mention it where it really fits. A reply that helps even without your link is one people upvote.
